ChildHelp | Every year more than 3 million reports of child abuse are made in the United States—we need all the help we can to diminish this number! At Childhelp, our goal is to meet the physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of abused, neglected and at-risk children. We focus our efforts on prevention, intervention, treatment, and community outreach. Childhelp programs and services help children from any situation and let them experience the life they deserve: one filled with love. The Crisis Response program is an essential part of the Glendale Fire Department’s service to the citizens of Glendale and the West Valley. A crisis team of two respond with fire crews and/or police officers, assisting those who are experiencing a 9-1-1 emergency. An emergency could be a house fire, unexpected death of a loved one, a car accident, drowning, homicide, mental illness, assault or suicide. Once on-scene, the crisis team works with fire crews and/or police officers to provide citizens emotional support, resources, referrals to agencies or organizations, or transportation if needed. CARE 7 prides itself on our "Continuum of Care". This means that we encounter clients at the point of crisis in their lives and we continue our support, assistance, and referral through the crisis point, healing, and recovery. When dispatched by Tempe Police and/or Fire, CARE 7 will respond to incidents including domestic violence, auto accidents, sexual and physical assaults, suicides, homicides, and other unexpected deaths. CARE 7 will provide on-scene assistance and comfort and also provide follow-up resources such as assistance with filing for victim's financial compensation, orders of protection, funeral arrangements, and counseling referrals. The Discover Your Future program offered by Future for KIDS is a out of school mentoring program with several locations throughout the community. Our focus is working with youth that have been exposed to stressful or toxic situations in their life, also knows as ACEs. Our programs promote resiliency against Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) by having positive role models offer a consistent, patient, and caring mentor relationship to the youth. We provide a curriculum, training, and a supportive environment to offer a dependable and organized program. The mentoring program is great for students that are looking for away to make an impact within the community, wanting experience with working with youth, or thinking of a field in social work, psychology, humanities, or education. The programs are operating from September until April and we offer a 13 or 26 week commitment to fit with the students schedule. The weekly commitment is to one location for 2.5 hours per week. We also provide a field internship where the students will be working about 5 hours per week to accrue about 60 hours per semester.
