Eligibility and How to Apply

Eligibility

Traditional Undergraduate Students

  • Declared Psychology Major, Psychology Minor, or Neuroscience Major
  • Completed at least 45 credit hours total
  • Completed at least 9 credit hours of psychology courses
  • Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Earned a Psychology GPA of 3.25 or higher [GPA of only Psychology-specific courses]

Transfer Undergraduate Students

  • Declared Psychology Major, Psychology Minor, or Neuroscience Major
  • Completed at least 36 credit hours total at any institution
  • Completed at least 12 credit hours total at ASU
  • Completed at least 9 credit hours of Psychology courses at any institution
  • Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Earned a Psychology GPA of 3.25 or higher [GPA of only Psychology-specific courses]

Graduate Students

  • Enrolled in a Psychology or closely related graduate program, or declared a Psychology concentration or minor
  • Completed at least 9 credit hours of graduate psychology courses in that program
  • Earned a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 in all graduate courses, including psychology courses
  • Meet their graduate program's requirements (e.g., if specific courses require an A or B, students must meet those requirements even if their cumulative GPA is above 3.25)

Online Students:

  • Should apply through ASU PSI CHI at West, email ekube@asu.edu for more information

Psi Beta:

  • Psi Beta is a national honor society for students attending two-year colleges who have an interest in Psychology. Psi Beta and Psi Chi are sister organizations, but each has its unique membership requirements. Therefore, membership in Psi Beta does not guarantee membership in Psi Chi. Please refer to the criteria above to determine your eligibility for Psi Chi membership.

The Application Process:

  • Check for member eligibility -- do you meet the requirements? Please keep in mind there are different requirements for traditional undergraduate, undergraduate transfer, and graduate students.
  • Complete the webform below to apply if you believe you are eligible. Please fill out as thoroughly and accurately as possible.
  • After submitting, allow for 2 weeks processing. If eligible, we will notify you and move to step 4. If not, we will let you know how you can stay involved with Psi Chi as a non-member.
  • Pay your Membership Dues. These one-time, lifetime dues cost $75 and cover your application fee, allowing you to become an official member.
    • If you are contacted to pay dues for Psi Chi membership after paying Psi Chi at ASU Tempe, please do not pay them -- it is most likely a scam!
    • We also have 3 scholarships available for those students demonstrating financial need.
  • Receive confirmation of completed application within 1 week. Congratulations -- you may now attend any and all Psi Chi at ASU Tempe Events!
  • Attend the Induction Ceremony to be honored as a New Member!
